Dragons Lodge, Gabriola Island Wedding – Karim + Gillian (Nanaimo Wedding Photographer)

This west coast Gabriola Island wedding at the Dragon’s Lodge was everything Karim and Gillian initially dreamed of.

During our first Skype meeting I remember them saying they wanted something intimate, outdoors, and not too stuffy. The mood was set the moment I got there. Sure the rugged beauty of Gabriola Island helped set a laid back atmosphere, but everyone was so relaxed when I arrived in part by the way Karim and Gillian designed the whole event. They invited a large number of family and friends to stay in one of the 11 bedrooms (that are part of the Dragons’s Lodge) where they enjoyed visiting with everyone the day and evening before the wedding. It was wonderful that everyone could be together in one place not just on the wedding day itself, but the days surrounding it too.

Most of the photos were taken on the location including all the getting ready photos, ceremony, reception and some of the stylized wedding party ones. We did take off for 90 minutes to Malaspina Galleries to capture the unique coastline there.

Enjoy viewing their photos and if you happen to be looking for something similar to what Karim and Gillian wanted I cannot recommend the Dragon’s Lodge enough. To clarify for those not familiar with it, it is not a resort, but rather a huge house that accommodates however many guests you can pack into the 11 bedrooms. I have included it in a previous post outlining my Top Central Vancouver Island Wedding Venues. Yes I know it’s not on Vancouver Island, but it is basically a 20 minute ferry ride from downtown Nanaimo.

Love the location! the view is beautiful and what a cute couple! lovely photos too. I find the building a bit of an eyesore or else this place would be a 10/10
