What if it rains?
This is the question I can often expect and although I do not control the weather I am usually responsible for having some solutions – as far as photos go. This is part of the reason couples choose to have a professional photographer at their wedding. They are prepared and can shoot in any situation. I always carry umbrellas, know of nice covered outdoor areas, have the ability to take rainy romantic shots if the couple is adventurous, and am completely comfortable shooting indoors when we really cannot be outside. More often than not, there is a dry spell somewhere in the day and if it does rain, some flexibility, juggling the schedule and being prepared on my end allows us to get some outdoor photos. To answer the above question. The couple will get beautiful photos no matter the weather.
This brings me to Bryan and Karrie’s wedding. It rained like no other wedding. It felt like a tropical monsoon. Five minutes before the ceremony it started to rain and ten minutes later the ground was holding a couple inches of water. Thanks to some teamwork by the groomsmen and guests the reception was quickly moved inside and lit by candles for an intimate setting. It was lovely. The last minute changes and rain never phased Bryan and Karrie. Not one ounce of stress and they enjoyed every moment.
A huge thank you to the folks at Millstone Winery for allowing us to photograph the wedding photos on their beautiful property. We had planned to go to a nearby beach, but it would have been muddy from the downpour. Knowing Bryan and Karrie liked wine, I felt there was a solution just a short drive away that was honestly even better than the beach.
Congratulations Bryan and Karrie. It was a pleasure to create these memories for you both.
PS – Bryan had one of my favourite reactions this year to first seeing his bride. See the photo about 1/4 way down the page.
