Qualicum Beach Wedding – Dave + Niki

One year ago (September 2010) Dave asked Niki to marry him while perched upon the top of The Chief in Squamish, BC.

Dave and Niki are extremely active, always pushing each other for their next adventure, but on their wedding day all they asked was for a natural day full of laughter.

The good times and playful laughs started as soon as I meet up with the guys in the morning. They were enjoying their view and morning refreshments while looking out at the ocean from their suite at the Beach Club in Parksville, BC.

Ten minutes down the road the rest of the bridal party was getting ready at an estate on the water in Qualicum. This was the location of the ceremony and reception and my second time shooting at this stunning private property. Although I knew what to expect upon arriving, I was still overwhelmed by the peaceful, fairytale-like ambience I felt,  When I opened my car door, I saw the pond surrounded by tall grass, perfectly manicured gardens, thoughtfully placed wedding decorations and heard the music from hidden speakers in the woods.

The fun continued when I finally met up with the bridal party. As soon as Niki had her elegant gown on from Isabelle’s Bridal she was ready to put on some moustaches with the rest of her party for some fun times before dancing down the isle.

The ceremony was gorgeous and it was hard not to get lost in how happy Dave and Niki were as they first laid eyes on each other.

Vendors:

Bridal Gown – Isabelle’s Bridal

Caterer – Galloping Gourmet Catering Company (my second experience and both occasions were a solid 10 out of 10)

Celebrant – Rev. Minnie Hornidge

Hair and Make-Up – Tigh-na-mara

I loved the hanger for Niki’s dress and highly recommend to any bride that they find a nice looking hanger for photos. This one just happened to be really unique.
A pond on one side and ocean on the other.

I love, love, love the wedding dress hanger, and all the cute signage (“True love is a big deal”). The reception was beautifully decorated (the paper lanterns add a magical touch).
My favorite shot is them in front of what looks like a little wooden cabin leaning on the tree. Great color and texture. Nice work Chuck.

Yeah I am going to ask Niki where she got the hanger. It is so awesome!

Niki and Dave painted and cut out a lot of those signs and I thought they were so cute – and true!

  3. Caitlin Ryan says:

The pictures are absolutely stunning. You did such a brilliant job!

  4. Jessica Brenner says:

WOW!!!! I’ve seen many wedding photos and by far these are some of the best. I enjoyed being part of the wedding party for this gorgeous couple and had fun following you around, Chuck, as you creatively set up shots. My favorite is the one of Niki and Dave sitting down in front of the doors of the cottage. I’ll definately look forward to getting a few copies of these shots.

  5. Jessica Brenner says:

I’m not sure if Niki got it on Etsy or not, but I’ve seen them on there.

  6. Jessica Brenner says:

    The hanger – I mean. 😉

Thanks Jessica – I will take a look on Etsy and if she didn’t get it on there I bet there are probably some cool ones on there anyways. It sure beats a white plastic hanger. I usually bring a wooden one with me incase, but this one was way cooler!

  7. Sandi Larsen-Robertson says:

Thanks Chuck for the awesome photos and the great comments! It was a magical day!

What is the name of this location… It is so beautiful and I have a friend getting married on the island in qualicum and we are looking for a place!

      Hi Lori,

This is actually a private estate near Milner Gardens. One of my favourite venues ever! I don’t think they currently book weddings there except for friends of the owners. There are still some great locations in Qualicum that are open to the public that I have used.
