Cowichan Valley Wedding and Twenty Two Oaks Winery – Jason +Michelle

They met in New York, got engaged in South Korea and lived in Italy while planning their wedding.

Michelle and I met last summer to discuss her upcoming wedding. Anyone that knows me will know I love traveling. I felt instantly interested in Michelle’s life. She had been living in Italy for a while and this wasn’t the only cool place she had lived. Jason, who I did not meet until the wedding day, was stationed in Italy with the US Army and Michelle lived there with him – they were living in one of my favourite countries. I have always wanted to live somewhere foreign – just for a little while to see what life is like there instead of from the tourists perspective. I picked her brain on life in Italy for quite a while until we finally got talking about the wedding.

I was so impressed with all the planning Jason and Michelle had put into their wedding. They were so fortunate to have a friend with an amazing piece of property in Duncan where the gorgeous ceremony could play out as well as host a reception and stage for a live band that was awesome (Maxwell Smart Band). I met with Michelle a couple of weeks before the wedding to look at the property where the wedding would take place.  She had every detail visualized and was so nice to give me a make-belive tour of where everything would be a couple of weeks later.

Two weeks later I arrived early to setup a photo booth and everything had been transform from a beautiful property to a fully decorated wedding venue.

The only time we left the grounds was to sneak off for photos at Maple Bay and finally meet up for wine and cheese at Twenty Two Oaks Winery. We were so thankful to Lisa and Jeff at Twenty Two Oaks for hosting this event and allowing us to take photos on their property. It really made the day extra special.

The wedding was everything Jason and Michelle wanted. It had a country feel while everyone was relaxed, having fun and dancing. The day flew by for me and I think it must have gone by even faster for Jason and Michelle.

I think their flower girl loved the camera more than anyone I had ever met. She was a trooper that day and looked adorable in her tutu from Tutu Peas in a Pod

It was really important to Jason to get some photos by the ocean. Thank you nearby Maple Bay!

The gates at Twenty Two Oaks Winery are pretty fantastic, but so is everything else there. I will be back to buy some wine. I didn’t have a chance to taste any, but heard from all the guests it was delicious. Michelle had some friends that were nice enough to bring in two collector vehicles. We didn’t have enough time to use both, but were so happy to use the truck that really fit really well with the winery. I had planned the above shot weeks before, but it was Michelle’s idea to climb into the truck. She wanted some photos of her feet sticking out which I took. Afterwards once I saw the view through the drivers window I knew I had to set something up to light this shot.
