Tigh-na-mara + Nanoose Wedding – Sean + Francine

Sean and Francine first met in highschool. As they put it,  they dated briefly in grade 8 for 3 weeks, but it wasn’t meant to be at that time and ended up being each others best friends from that point on.

Still maintaing their close friendship, Sean went off to UBC and soon after Francine joined him. The two became roommates when Sean left his fraternity house and he was the only person Francine knew in Vancouver. It was during their 8 months of being roommates that things changed. Once they had been apart for the summer they knew there was something more to their relationship. They started dating that September and after 6 years were engaged.

There engagement story is a memorable one. Sean had planned a surprise trip to New York.  But, before he had time to surprise her,  Francine found tickets for a New York musical booked under Sean’s name while snooping on the computer.  He had to come clean with the surprise and together they planned their trip to New York.

Francine started to wonder if there would be a proposal after many of her friends put the idea in her head. Three nights into their trip, Francine saw no sign of a proposal and had given up hope. She had no idea that Sean was sneaking the ring around waiting for the perfect spot to propose. On the fourth night, the moment presented itself on the Brooklyn Bridge. It was so surreal that they both don’t remember much except that Francine almost dropped the ring through the bridge onto the car deck below. Thankfully she didn’t and they were able to celebrate that evening with a romantic dinner in Little Italy.

Sean and Francine wanted a fun but laid-back, outdoor celebration with their family & friends. The guys wore suits, but went for the casual look by ditching the ties and wearing flip-flops. They added some fun by having a photo booth, popcorn machine and candy bar. It all created a great atmosphere under the large tent on her parents beautiful Nanoose waterfront property. The ceremony took place at the always picturesque Tigh-na-mara resort and pictures followed at Rathtrevor during some amazing late evening light. We had the great company of their fun wedding party all sporting matching pink sunglasses. The evening was highlighted by all the good stuff:  Dinner, dancing, and entertaining toasts. My favourite moment came when Sean surprised Francine with an acoustic performance of ‘I Wanna Grow Old With You.’

As Sean and Francine said, ” We both feel very lucky to be in love with our best friend!”

Congrats Sean and Francine!
